“Perception or Perceive”

Art grade resin, crushed glass, obsidian chips, paint.

Ever heard of the phrase  “The grass is always greener on the other side” ? This piece is based around that metaphor.
We naturally all perceive the world in our own way and we all have our assumptions about many different things which could be better and may seem more appealing. For example, There are two people sitting next to one another. Person 1 is excited about the latest iPhone they bought  and person 2 has an old iPhone they purchased two years before. Person 2 believes that if they had the latest iPhone they would be so much happier because they see how happy person 1 is, so person 2 goes out and also buys themselves the latest iPhone. However, after the excitement wears down, person 2 finds they are back to feeling the same way as before but just with a different phone.
Least to say our perception on our surroundings whether it be other people or situations isn’t always real and instead of being content in our current environment, sometimes we loose sight and feel as if there is always more out there that we are missing.

This phrase applies to many aspects of a person life and sometimes we need to ask ourselves “is the grass really greener on the other side?” instead of just having the ideology that “the grass is greener on the other side”.
